The Challenge

At high-energy events like TEDx, thousands of quick introductions are made, and forgotten. Between rapid networking, tight schedules, and overstimulation, meaningful connection often comes down to one simple thing: can they remember your name?

TEDx needed a badge that wasn’t just functional, it had to feel intentional, professional, and aligned with the energy of the event.

The Approach

We explored how small design details can create big moments of recognition.

The badges were designed with bold visual hierarchy, making first names easy to read even from a distance. The design reflects TEDx Detroit’s urban energy, incorporating the skyline and a strong typographic presence to match the tone of innovation and community.

The layout prioritizes function without sacrificing style, ensuring attendees can confidently network without awkward name fumbling.

The Outcome

This spec project demonstrates how even a seemingly minor detail, a name badge, can have a major impact on brand perception, attendee confidence, and overall event cohesion.

It’s not just a badge. It’s a moment.

A handshake. A starting point. A first impression that sticks.
